Who We Are
Incorporated in 2004, the Missouri Pain Initiative

the lives of Missourians in pain. Our mission is to improve the
quality of life of people with pain by raising public awareness,
promoting self-advocacy and provider practice improvement, and
working to remove barriers and increase access to effective pain
management. We are a state member of the Alliance of State Pain
Initiatives and a American Pain Foundation Action Network founding collaborator.

| American Pain Foundation Launches Fibromyalgia Awareness Pilot Project in Missouri |
| To raise awareness about fibromyalgia (FM), an often misdiagnosed, musculoskeletal pain
condition that affects up to six million Americans, the American Pain Foundation (APF) is piloting a Is Fibro the Cause? awareness project in Missouri. They are working with community and statebased alliance groups and fibro advocates to disseminate our new Is Fibro the Cause? toolkit.
Not only does this toolkit include helpful tips and resources on how to recognize fibromyalgia’s
signs and symptoms, but also provides a worksheet to help track symptoms and facilitate
communication with your health care provider.
